・This is a rare opportunity to experience and get to know deeply about the world of the  "Chanoyu" (literally, "hot water for tea"), or "Chado" (literally, "Way of Tea").
Which can be described as a "Comprehensive Art Form of Japan", and also fully packed with the "Basic Characteristic of the Japanese Culture", as evidenced by its deep relationship with Zen, and by the fact that it was a social gathering place and a business tool for the Samurai Warrior Lords and Merchants.

・This is a regular lesson specially dedicated to English speakers, to experience and learn the authentic "Chanoyu" or "Chado" Japanese Way of Tea, in English, in a private tea room of a Tea Master located in a valley with a deep connection to the history of Samurai and Zen.

・For people living overseas who want to learn Chado / Chanoyu properly, but there are no Urasenke branches within commuting distance, and also there are no other Chado classes within commuting distance, Waka An is able to offer an online Chado/ Chanoyu lessons in English.
No matter where you are in the world, as long as you have an internet connection, you can participate in an authentic Chado / Chanoyu lesson from anywhere.  

・Lessons follow the Urasenke School of the Way of Tea.
First, you will learn the fundamental techniques such as Mannerly Deportment and "Temae" (procedure for making tea) Fundamentals.
After learning the basics, participants will serve as both the “host” or one of the “guests” in the lesson, to learn the ways to prepare, serve and drink tea. 
Of course, you will enjoy delicious seasonal Japanese sweets with matcha in each lesson you take.

・Basically, the lessons are intended for beginners who wish to learn in depth about Chanoyu (Way of Tea), and who wish to learn deeply about Japanese art and culture in depth through Chanoyu. 
But for those who wish to obtain a "Kyojo" (licences) and advance step by step to Intermediate -Upper level - Instructor, close instruction is also available in English with the ability to apply for a license.

・You will enjoy a lively conversation with the Instructor, and you will be free to ask anything you are interested in a relaxed atmosphere.
About the meaning behind each procedure of the Host, as well as about the manners of the guests, the history of the Chanoyu, its deep relationship with Zen, and the spirit of Chanoyu.
About Chanoyu as a social and business tool in the samurai society ,and about Japanese art and culture condensed and encompassed in Chanoyu.
You will be able to discover and understand about your desired field of Chanoyu.

・Only available on this special Waka An lesson dedicated to English speakers, Souki Koyama, Tea Master and the Instructor, who is a " Kamakura Local ", and who loves Japanese culture, will guide the lessons, all in English.
 Of course, he will also fully assist you with everything in English, allowing you to perfectly enjoy the lesson without language barriers.

・The types of bowls, utensils, and Japanese sweets will change depending on the season and other factors.

Please note that additional 1 Month lesson fee will be required on the month before "Kotohajime" (first celebration of the four seasons)(July), and "Hassaku" (celebration for good harvest)(November)
